  Important Safety Check

One of the first things you need to do when moving is to make sure your new home is safe by checking the condition of your gas and electric equipment.

  • Electricity: is your electric and heating equipment safe and dependable? Do you have enough outlets? Do you have safety plugs to keep young children from inserting anything into the outlets?

Avoid plugging too many high-voltage items into multiple outlet strips: an overload can start a fire.

  • Gas: is your gas equipment worn or damaged? Is the tubing connecting the gas to the stove still in working condition? Was a gas inspection done prior to your move?

This inspection is valid for 3 years and is now required by law for any sale of property or residential rental property containing gas equipment over 15 years old. The inspection concerns heating equipment, hot water equipment, pipes and ventilation for the rooms containing gas equipment.

I'm moving house and I wish to take out a gas and/or electricity contract for my future home. Will there be fees?

I'm moving house and I wish to take out a gas and/or electricity contract for my future home. Will there be fees?

Yes. There will be access fees for opening your electricity and/or gas contract, regardless of the chosen energy supplier. If the electricity meter at your home is not powerful enough for your needs, paid intervention by a technician from the distributor Enedis(1) may be necessary (unless you are equipped with a LinkyTM meter). On the other hand, there is no charge for cancelling your current energy contract.
The commissioning of a meter is payable and does not vary, irrespective of the chosen energy supplier:

  • €21.23 for electricity (€49.31 for a new dwelling)
  • €18.58 for gas

Electricity is put in service as soon as your new contract is concluded, except where the line was cut after the previous tenant/owner moved out. In this case, you can contact us with your availabilities to make an appointment, when you open your electricity contract.
