Understanding your energy bill

Here you will find:

• Your EDF customer number, which will assist you in communicating with an adviser
• Your e-mail address, which enables you to create or access your EDF online account
• Different ways to contact us:
  • The EDF&MOI app
  • Our website and the e-mail address of our customer service
  • Our telephone number and our voice server
  • Our postal address

This is the address at which you have requested to receive your EDF bills. This can differ from the address of your place of energy consumption.

Find the billing amount (in euros incl. VAT) for your electricity and gas bill here.

This amount includes:

• Your subscription and your electricity and gas consumption
• Taxes and contributions (TCFE, CSPE or TIFSE, CTA, etc.)
• VAT
• Any subscribed services, such as Assurénergie or Solution Dépannage Confiance
• Services provided by the operator Enedis and the operator GRDF

If you have chosen monthly payment of your energy bills, the payments already made are deducted:

• If your energy consumption is higher than that estimated when your payment schedule was set up, you must settle the difference.
• If however you have consumed less energy than we estimated when your EDF monthly payments were calculated, we will reimburse the difference within 14 days.

There are three types of readings:

• The meter reading taken by the operator Enedis or GRDF
• The reading that you send us yourself, to be billed for your consumption as accurately as possible, if you are not equipped with a smart meter
• The reading that we have estimated, if you are not equipped with a smart meter and you have not sent us your consumption readings

This blue zone shows:

• Your place of consumption, in other words, the place of address that is supplied with electricity and gas. This may be different to your postal billing address
• Your EDF customer number
• Your account number, specific to your contract, and essential when paying your energy bills
• The Delivery Point number for electricity and the Meter Point number for gas, which identify your home
• The power and the type of EDF contract for your subscription

Here you will find:

• The date of your next electricity and gas bill
• The date of the next automatic reading of your electricity and/or gas meter with your Linky and Gazpar smart meters
• The next period for submitting your meter reading, if you are not equipped with a smart meter

This zone indicates your chosen payment method for settling your EDF energy bills.

There are different payment methods:

• Direct debit, electronic payment, credit card
• TIP SEPA, cheque or cash payment order

Here you will find:

• Your subscribed power and your tariff option
• The total amount of your subscription before tax, as well as the billed subscription period. If you have opted for monthly payment, here you will find the subscription for the past year, as well as the subscription for the first months of the next period (which will be deducted from your next end-of-period bill). If you pay your EDF bills every two months, the subscription is billed to you in advance for two months.

You will find the amounts of your consumption for the last period here.

Your electricity consumption in kWh corresponds to the difference between your new meter reading and the previous one.

To calculate the amount of your electricity consumption before tax, you just multiply the kWh unit price by your electricity consumption in kWh.

In the event of a change in tariff for the period, we take an estimate of the number of kWh consumed before and after the change in price (see section "Pour votre information" [For your information] at the end of your energy bill).

The following taxes apply to your electricity consumption and to its distribution:

• Excise Duty on electricity (Ex TCFE and CSPE)
• Distribution tariff contribution (Contribution Tarifaire d’Acheminement – CTA)

In this section, you will find:

• Your tariff option
• The total amount of your gas subscription before tax
• The billed subscription period: you pay your subscription in advance, for a period of two months. Your gas consumption is charged for the last two months.

Your gas meter reading is measured in m3. Your gas consumption is converted to kWh for billing. As with electricity, your billed consumption corresponds to the difference between your new meter reading and the previous one.

To calculate the amount of your consumption before tax, you just multiply the kWh unit price by your gas consumption in kWh.

In the event of a change in tariff for the period, we take an estimate of the number of kWh consumed before and after the change in price (see section "Pour votre information" [For your information] at the end of your energy bill).

The following taxes apply to your gas consumption and to its distribution:

• Distribution tariff contribution (Contribution Tarifaire d’Acheminement – CTA)
• Excise tax on natural gas (ex-TICGN)

For example, when you move and you take out a new energy contract, you have to pay commissioning fees (unless you are an energy cheque beneficiary): € 14.69 incl. VAT* for the commissioning of electricity and € 20.94 incl. VAT** for the commissioning of gas.

• Protection Facture: insurance to help you pay your bills if in difficulty
• Assistance Dépannage: assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to help you deal with the hassles of everyday life (power failure, plumbing emergency, gas leak, etc.)

This section summarizes the total amount of your bill, in euros incl. VAT, broken down as follows:

• Total amount excl. VAT
• The amount of tax at the 20% rate: this is the VAT on the sum of the consumption, services and corresponding taxes
• The amount of tax at the 5.5% rate: this is the VAT on the sum of the subscription and the distribution tariff contribution
• If you have opted for monthly payment, the amount of payments already made and the balance in your favour or in favour of EDF.
